Thirteen Cities
Thirteen Cities, Richmond Fontaine’s seventh and most recent studio recording, sees the kings of Americana expanding their sound and is their first album to be produced at the famous Wave Lab studios in Tucson, Arizona.
Thirteen Cities features contributions from Calexico and Giant Sand’s Howe Gelb, while retaining Willy’s dark literate lyrics. The album is a natural progression from their last two albums with a distinct South Western feel across the album and the band is fully featured on most of the numbers. Recording in the Arizona has also given the album much more diverse instrumentation with accordions on the stirringly beautiful instrumental “ El Tiradito” a horn section on the opener “Moving Back Home # 2” and organs, mandolins. Again all written by singer/songwriter, Willy Vlautin whom has recently had his first novel ‘The Motel Life’ published for Faber &
Produced once again by JD Foster (Dwight Yokam, Green on Red), who was at the helm for the last two albums. Multi-instrumentalist Paul Brainard again steps in for pedal steel and piano and the core line of Vlautin, Sean Oldham – drums, Dave Harding – Bass and Dan Eccles remains.

Postcard From Portland - Live At Dante's
The bands 4th limited edition live cd (the first two are going for £30 plus on ebay and the third will be out of stock from the US any day now) This European edition comes in a nice digipak and is strictly limited to 1500 copies of which we have less than 200 for mailorder. This cd will not ship till March 4th. They recorded this on a multitrack last December at their album launch gig in their hometown of Portland at Dante's. Dante's is one of Portlands best clubs and used to be called the Met where I spent the early 80s checking out the likes of Bad Brains, Black Flag, Discharge, Cramps, Gun Club etc. The album mainly consists of tracks off the last two albums. The artwork was again made by Aarron Draplin who did the cover for "We Use To Think..."

Chuck wrote these songs last summer in one long spurt in San Francisco with the window open wide during a rare heat wave. Dwight Twilley, Iggy, Thin Lizzy and the Knack were blaring out the Hi-fi. It is as anxious a time as any for the life, death, rebirth and future of the American Dream. A concept album emerged around this dream. The songs were immediate and called for guitars and more guitars and needed to be recorded somewhere raw and energizing. Many fans and writers are already calling this Chuck's best album yet.
Recorded down in Mexico City, The Biggest City in the World , Recorded at Estudio 19, a state-of-the-art studio with Greg Leisz (Beck, Wilco, Emmylou Harris) co-producing. Chuck played his Fender Squire, Kelly Stoltz on backing vocals, Rusty Miller (Jason Lyte’s band) played bass while Drummer Ernest "Boom" Carter turned his sticks into kindling. This is the European pressing of Chuck's limited edition covers album of the entire Waylon Jennings album "Dreaming My Dreams" it was recorded in just a few short days in San Francisco and made available as a tour only cd with copies going for over $50 on ebay now. We here at decor have screwed with the art and put it into a digipack format as well as given it a much better remaster than before...hell Mr Prophet did it himself the first time and will only be sellling 1400 of these pups Europewide. Franz Nicolay's debut album is fantastic and one of the best things we've heard around here for a long time. If you like Franz's other bands:The Hold Steady and World Inferno Society you will love this but it also has a ton of other influences with the likes of Thin Lizzy, Elvis Costello, Scott Walker, Brel, AMC and not to forget some punk rock for good measure. An album that name checks's Mark Eitzel's "Songs of Love" has to be great with us. Here some tracks for yourself on Franz's site now and hopefully on our site soon. The album is produced by James Frazee and sounds fantasic loud. The European pressing features two tracks not on the US cd and is in a lovely digipack with a 12 page booklet so dont just download it.
